Wrongful Death
Whether you have lost a loved one due to another person's negligence, carelessness, or intentional conduct, Indiana provides families some recourse for their tragic loss. The decedent's personal representative can file a wrongful death action, requesting financial compensation for the decedent's medical expenses, funeral expenses, and a host of other damages.

In general, the following items may be recoverable in wrongful death actions:
- Medical expenses
- Hospital expenses
- Funeral and burial expenses
- Loss of future earnings and benefits that the decedent would have received if alive
- Loss of love, care, and companionship

Wrongful death actions are time sensitive. Under Indiana's wrongful death statute, a personal representative of the decedent's estate generally has up to two years from the time of the decedent's death to file a wrongful death action.
